Luke 14:11 – “For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”
Exalt: is defined as to raise in rank, power, or character, to elevate by praise or in estimation : glorify
God is not pleased with us when we praise and glorify ourselves . It is only God who is worthy to be Praised and Glorified. Wisdom is meekness and humility. Let other lips praise you and not of yourself.
Examples of self glorification:
1.” I’m the greatest and brightest in our class.”
2. ” I have done nothing wrong, I am a good person.”
“I don’t deserve to be treated this way.”
Luke 18:19 – “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone.
We don’t deserve anything, but because of God’s goodness and unmerited Grace and Favor to us we are alive and well.
1 Corinthians 15:10-12 – “But by the grace (the unmerited favor and blessing) of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not [found to be] for nothing (fruitless and without effect). In fact, I worked harder than all of them [the apostles], though it was not really I, but the grace (the unmerited favor and blessing) of God which was with me.”
Question: When was the last time God humbled you from your prideful ways?
