A wonderful short film that depicts the service God has began in Abundant Harvest Fellowship International called: Dawn Watch. It is a service dedicated to prayer as we stand to seek God’s face; praying not to change His mind or force His hand but to be in tuned to God’s will that we may seek His best by biding directly to His commandments.
2 Corinthians 10:5 – Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
Following Christ means we strive with all our being to be intentional in our holiness. The path of the world and its sensual desires which we so discarded upon our election into salvation must be completely dead in us for unless it is; we can’t claim to be one with Christ. Sin, sensuality and our own depravity unless put to death completely will fester eventually as each hidden sin, hidden thought that stands unpleasant and abhorrent to God will be brought into the open since God’s whose mercy is evident in our lives moves us to accept reproach in order to fix what has to be changed in order than we can exude the newness of life in Christ Jesus. Saints, what manifests in our day to day actions; does everything we do spell out that we are of Christ, for Christ? Or do we exude the world still despite our profession to be believers? Examine yourselves and check our hearts lest we stand abhorrent to God who by His loving Kindness purposed us to be washed by the blood of the lamb, holy and pleasing to Him. Our lives must stand obedient to Him alone; every aspect of our existence must confess Christ for unless it does- we are unregenerated and of the world we are called to disdain. Thus I call to you dear saints; does our lives shine Christ; have we cast down every imagination and high thought as we lay them captive into the obedience to Christ? I pray so. Have a blessed day dear saints and always focus on Him alone. – Pastor Lyle Lopez
There is much to be grateful for in the dawning of a new year. One of reason is simply because of God’s great faithfulness that continuously unfolds in our church. Last January 10, 2014; the Armor Bearers celebrated their 2nd year anniversary which is a testament not of man’s great working, nor the continues devotion of the church and its workers to impact youths; but because God is so faithful that He blessed His church and empowered the saints to impact the lives of the children in Napindan Taguig and Quezon City thus turning each hardened heart into obedience to Christ.
Standing true to the call set forth to the church which could be found in Luke 1:17 which states-
“and he will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready for the Lord a people prepared”
Pastor Lyle Lopez, Pastor Akeem Lumongsod & AHFi by the grace of God and the unwavering stance for His truth have worked tirelessly to draw the youths of the land to come to Christ, turning away from the call of the world and its sensual appetites; and drawing near to Christ not by mere decisionism but by divine election.
Praise God as He adds to our number daily those who are being saved. It is truly amazing to see the Armor Bearers mature in the Lord and grow in His truth. May God continue to bless and build up His church as more transformed lives would come forth as a product of God’s truth.
May His light shine on each of the Armor Bearers in order that they be a light to their families, to their friends, to their schools and to this nation as they stand a generation of obedient, God focused youths who stand for the wisdom of Christ in all things.
In this we lay hold of the simple truth to which we stood to uphold from the start of the first Armor Bearer’s service; even to this day:
Proverbs 22:6 – “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
The Armor Bearers Short Film was lovingly created and written by Winchaell Villarico who stands as a youth minister and the head of Multimedia of AHFi. The film chronicles the calling set forth by God as He elected each one of these youths to stand for Him and shine His light. This we uphold as we stand in prayer to fulfill the call set forth by Christ not by might nor power, but by His Holy Spirit. To God be all the Glory, Honor and Praise!
Gentleness is a strong hand with a soft touch. It is a tender, compassionate approach toward others’ weaknesses and limitations. A gentle person still speaks truth, sometimes even painful truth, but in doing so guards his tone so the truth can be well received.
Puritan leader Jonathan Edwards called gentleness “the Christian spirit.” Edwards said, “All who are truly godly and are real disciples of Christ have a gentle spirit in them.”
The Bible goes out of its way to demonstrate Jesus’ gentleness. In fact, the Old Testament depicts the Messiah as unusually gentle, telling us that Jesus would not break a “bruised reed” or snuff out a “smoldering wick” (Isaiah 42:3). In the Gospels, Jesus affirmed His gentleness: “I am gentle and humble in heart” (Matthew 11:29). And the apostles often reminded the early church of Jesus’ gentleness: “By the meekness and gentleness of Christ, I appeal to you” (2 Corinthians 10:1).
Unfortunately, too many people equate gentle with weak. Unless you would call the heroic apostle Paul, the fiery Puritan Jonathan Edwards and the almighty Christ “weak” individuals, it is clearly a misunderstanding to assume weakness has anything to do with gentleness.
It’s the strong hand, not the weak one, that must learn to be gentle. True followers of Christ are distinguished by gentleness.
In this note, Pastor Lyle and Pastor Akeem of AHFI upon teaching the youths the importance of gentleness set the stage for a group dynamic that illustrated gentleness and its application. The activity was called: Gentle Eggs; the activity challenges the Armor Bearers to go through an obstacle which were made through chairs stacked together which illustrates the difficulties of life and what we ought to pass through while exuding gentleness. With the egg in tow on a silver spoon, each youth would pass through the course in hope to get it to the finish line without breaking the fragile egg. Such is the challenge to exude gentleness!
Here is the short video of Gentleness and the Gentle Egg Activity:
As 2013 comes to a close and we usher in the dawning of a new year; I would like to exhort you to focus the eyes of Our heart on our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as we give thanks for His great faithfulness this past year and His light, love and truth for the year to come.
Facing the dawning of a new year, we remember the painful defeats of the past and the sweet victories that followed those who patiently waited on Christ. We remember the sadness as we also remember joy- we remember each sin committed; each short coming done and the goodness of God that empowered us to stand triumphant. We acknowledge the fall of many who stood with us, the loyalty of the elect and the few who chose to be part of our family again as we stood to rebuild the bridges that were shattered by the enemy. 2013 has been an eventful year; the year where the wheat was separated from the tares. A year that God has purposed to look for those who stand pleasing to Him; for those who are pleasing did remain. It was a year when God added to a number those who were being saved. As we see this year come to close, we look back at the past and learn from our mistakes; as we also look to the present, to our future and see a bright new day arise as we trust in God and abide in Him alone.
2014 comes to us as a year of new beginnings, of relationships being healed; of lives changed and of people who discard the ways of the world and seek to please the King alone. Friends, we were never saved to serve; we were saved to obey; to stand for righteousness as our newness of life moves us to service, to the call set forth by Christ. For no matter how much we serve, how much we do; if our hearts are not contrite, we do not humble ourselves and turn to Christ alone; our sacrifice would not be pleasing to God. Man made ideals to please the Lord does not work to entreat the King for He has set forth His own requirement and to that we bide.
Psalm 51:10-17 – “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit. Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will return to you. Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, O God of my salvation, and my tongue will sing aloud of your righteousness. O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise. For you will not delight in sacrifice, or I would give it; you will not be pleased with a burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise”
As I close this message, I would like to share with you a verse that comes to mind in the springing forth of the new year; a prayer in Psalm 90:12 –
“So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.”
May we learn to number our days as we grasp the opportunity of each new day to be the person God called us to be, shining His light to all regardless of feeling or circumstance. May we number each moment and count each blessing God has given to us as we also stand encouraged to give back and be a blessing to others; and above all may we number our days as we come to that fervent desire and understanding that our purpose this year and all years to come is not some measly resolution, but the singular resolve that grants us to strength to accomplish all that is good: simply put, our resolution should be to please our King. Have a blessed New year, may God’s light and blessing be upon you and your family! Hope you have a wonderful day! – Pastor Lyle “L.A.” Lopez and Family
First of all I would like to thank and praise God for His great faithfulness, as He strengthens, empowers and builds His church. It has been a very eventful year, filled with ups and downs, joy and sadness but all in all; we stand triumphant- not because of what we’ve done but simply because Christ reigns supreme as His lordship manifests each day.
As we celebrate this season of hope, I would like to share with you a simple thought that God has placed in my heart. I know that there is much to do and experience in Christmas, for this is the only time in the year when families are together, peace is celebrated and hope is rekindled. With this at heart, we busy ourselves in celebration, giving presents to each other, decorating and preparing for the festivities that follow this season of joy; yet let us not stand to be desensitized by this things and let us strive to refocus our eyes and anchor our hearts and souls. The true reason for the season is not the presents, not the celebration, not the decoration or the vast merriment that we so desire to enjoy; the reason for the season can be found in Isaiah 9:6 –
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
It was prophesied in the book of Isaiah that the savior will be born, to us a child; the Child is born. The most wonderful gift given was the child in swaddling clothes, laying in that manger; our redemption. The true reason for this season is the beacon of hope found in the birth of our savior Jesus Christ, for through his birth; a ministry of reconciliation was ushered in. By His love and sacrifice, by his stripes we are healed and made whole. Through His love we find redemption, by His grace we received salvation. In Christ we trust and all we are, all we have been and all we ever be is due to the power and love of Jesus Christ our Lord, the King of Kings, the author and finisher of our Faith.
Friends, I would like to greet you and your family a Merry Christmas, truly God is faithful as He shines His loving kindness and His tender mercies. Truly God is gracious as each new day, each morning, each year we welcome stands testament to His compassion. May Faith, hope and love fill us as His peace emanates in our hearts as we anchor ourselves to God alone. May we fix our eyes on the reason for the season: Jesus Christ our Lord, and may we intentionally with all heart augment our walk with Him; seeking His face and basking in His presence. God be with you always!
