Merry Christmas!

First of all I would like to thank and praise God for His great faithfulness, as He strengthens, empowers and builds His church. It has been a very eventful year, filled with ups and downs, joy and sadness but all in all; we stand triumphant- not because of what we’ve done but simply because Christ reigns supreme as His lordship manifests each day.

As we celebrate this season of hope, I would like to share with you a simple thought that God has placed in my heart. I know that there is much to do and experience in Christmas, for this is the only time in the year when families are together, peace is celebrated and hope is rekindled. With this at heart, we busy ourselves in celebration, giving presents to each other, decorating and preparing for the festivities that follow this season of joy; yet let us not stand to be desensitized by this things and let us strive to refocus our eyes and anchor our hearts and souls. The true reason for the season is not the presents, not the celebration, not the decoration or the vast merriment that we so desire to enjoy; the reason for the season can be found in Isaiah 9:6

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

It was prophesied in the book of Isaiah that the savior will be born, to us a child; the Child is born. The most wonderful gift given was the child in swaddling clothes, laying in that manger; our redemption. The true reason for this season is the beacon of hope found in the birth of our savior Jesus Christ, for through his birth; a ministry of reconciliation was ushered in. By His love and sacrifice, by his stripes we are healed and made whole. Through His love we find redemption, by His grace we received salvation. In Christ we trust and all we are, all we have been and all we ever be is due to the power and love of Jesus Christ our Lord, the King of Kings, the author and finisher of our Faith.

Friends, I would like to greet you and your family a Merry Christmas, truly God is faithful as He shines His loving kindness and His tender mercies. Truly God is gracious as each new day, each morning, each year we welcome stands testament to His compassion. May Faith, hope and love fill us as His peace emanates in our hearts as we anchor ourselves to God alone. May we fix our eyes on the reason for the season: Jesus Christ our Lord, and may we intentionally with all heart augment our walk with Him; seeking His face and basking in His presence. God be with you always!

The Importance of Baptism

Water baptism accompanied the proclamation of the gospel from the beginning of the church mission in Acts 2:38-41. It was and is the rite of Christian initiation which indicates that a person is committing him or herself to Jesus Christ entirely; by being baptized in the water; believers visually demonstrate their faith as a public declaration of an inward change

So understand that the inward change is the focus here, to be baptized in Spirit since we can dip you a ton load in the water but if your life does not equate to the bible; then all is meaningless. So maybe you are asking, if all I need is an inward change, why do I need to be baptized in water? The answer could be found in John 3 when Jesus called for a baptism of water and spirit. Expounding it further, we have 5 points to which we need to discuss in order to understand the importance of water baptism, what it entails & why it is imperative.

I. Our first point is highlight in Galatians 3:27 which states – “For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ” – Baptism signifies that we who partake now stand in confession as slaves unto Christ who by election share in His life, Spirit and inheritance. This means that we who stand baptized are called to put on Christ and shine Christ in our walk.

II. Our second point is; water baptism is a response to what Christ has done for us who believe. To validate this response, it must be preceded by repentance which is found in Acts 2:38“And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” and a personal faith in Christ as found in Colossians 2:12 which states – “having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead.”

III. Our third point is; Water Baptism when undertaken with a sincere heart of faith and commitment as we stand elected by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; thus the eyes of our heart is fixed on Him would shine that we have received grace from Christ as found in 1 Peter 3:21“Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ”

IV. Our Fourth point is; Water Baptism is an outward sign and testimony of our receiving Christ as Lord and Savior; thus our sins are washed away due to our regeneration by the power of the Holy Spirit. Titus 3:5“he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit”

V. Our Fifth point and by far one that completely resounded to me is this- Water Baptism portrays the union of the believer with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection which could be found in our key text as well as in Romans 6:24“We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.” Baptism signifies an end to a life of sin and a beginning of a new life in Christ. Therefore Water Baptism doesn’t begin and end right here; but it involves a lifelong practice of turning one’s back from the world and all it’s evil and living a new life in the spirit as we walk in The spirit thus reflecting God’s righteousness.

2 Corinthians 5:17 – “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come”

Light Talk: God’s Redemptive Purpose

Yet it was the will of the Lord to crush him; he has put him to grief; when his soul makes an offering for guilt, he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days; the will of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.Isaiah 53:10

It was the will of God the father that His Son be sent to die on the cross for the lost world. By making Christ the atoning sacrifice for ALL Transgressions.God’s redemptive purpose of bringing many people to salvation has been accomplished. He will ” prolong his days “means he will rise from the dead and live forever. Please take note of “it was the LORD’S WILL TO CRUSH HIM” – let us reflect of how painful it is that a father would crush his own son, blameless and pure. But God willingly offered his son for a great purpose. Have have we offered and dedicated our children to God’s redemptive purpose? or are we so complacent, afraid to tell our children that we were created for one purpose alone, not just to find a job, climb the corporate ladder and focus on worldly desires, but One Great Purpose of SERVING GOD for His redemptive purpose. May God grant us the grace to always have The Kingdom mentality.

AHFi Dawn Watch: Approaching God in the Morning

Psalm 5:1-3 – “Give ear to my words, O LORD, Consider my meditation. Give heed to the voice of my cry, My King and my God,For to You I will pray.My voice You shall hear in the morning, O LORD;In the morning I will direct it to You, And I will look up.”

Last Sunday, December 8, 2013 AHFi had its first Dawn Watch service at the Upper Room Napindan Campus. Many of the saints came from both Napindan and the AHFi headquarters in Quezon city to come and worship the Lord in the dawning of a new day. Truly God is good, the praise and worship was led by the Armor Bearers Choir. Afterwards, Pastor Lyle Lopez; the Senior Pastor of Abundant Harvest Fellowship International shared the message entitled: “Approaching God in the Morning.” In this message, Pastor Lyle shares the importance of setting one’s priorities straight by approaching God first in the break of dawn. This stands clear with the statement of Charles Spurgeon in regard to morning prayer: “A prayer in the morning is worth two in the evening.” Pastor Lyle discussed Psalm 5:1-3 which was a prayer of David which shows the singular focus of the man after God;s own heart from Morning to evening: God alone.

Pastor Lyle then discusses the importance of morning prayer and the focus to which one must abide in order to pray correctly. Directing ones prayer to God is a must. The idea behind direct is not “to aim” but “to order, to arrange.” “It is the word that is used for the laying in order of the wood and pieces of the victim upon the altar, and it is used also for the putting of the bread upon the table. It means just this: ‘I will arrange my prayer before you;’ I will lay it out upon the altar in the morning, just as the priest lays out the morning sacrifice.”

The mistake many people make is to pray at haphazard. There is too much random praying with us all. This idealism was then debunked by Pastor Lyle as He called all the saints to ask God for His Holy Spirit to guide us all in prayer. After this short yet striking devotion; a call to prayer was given. The saints devoted the remaining hour in prayer as each one stood to pray for their families, their church, their country and finally their personal walk.

It was truly a fruitful beginning since this was the first service set in the newly build Napindan Campus. It is the prayer of Pastor Lyle and every saint of AHFi that the newly built campus would stand as a house of prayer as each dawn watch would be a time of focused prayer as we call forth each saint to stand for holiness and purity in order to shine God’s light to the lost as the both churches of AHFi stand to proclaim the Lordship of Jesus Christ alone. First Dawn Watch Service Today

Today, AHFI is truly blessed to announce the launch of our Sunday Morning Dawn Watch which will be held in the newly constructed AHFi Upper Room Napindan Campus. Truly God is good as He empowers us to shine His light, His goodness and His truth. Services will be held this morning at 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM. Worship will be led by the Armor Bearers Choir with a Morning devotion by Pastor Lyle Lopez. Regular services will be held at the Quezon City Campus at 3 PM this Sunday. Hope to see you there!

Give Thanks to The Lord: Happy Thanksgiving Dear Saints!

Give Thanks To the Lord for He is Good as we celebrate Thanksgiving. Yet maybe some of us may yet be aware of the origins of this holiday and the overall message that we ought to apply in our everyday life in regards to shining a thankful heart. Thus, we’d like to give you a brief history on the subject thus ending it with a greeting from our Senior Pastor as we here in AHFI stand to give thanks for all and everything. For in victory or defeat, in harvest or drought, in sadness or joy- we ought to give thanks.

Habakkuk 3:17-18 – “Though the fig tree should not blossom And there be no fruit on the vines, Though the yield of the olive should fail And the fields produce no food, Though the flock should be cut off from the fold And there be no cattle in the stalls, Yet I will exult in the LORD, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.”

A Brief History of Thanksgiving

Almost every culture in the world has held celebrations of thanks for a plentiful harvest. The American Thanksgiving holiday began as a feast of thanksgiving in the early days of the American colonies almost four hundred years ago.

In 1620, a boat filled with more than one hundred people sailed across the Atlantic Ocean to settle in the New World. This religious group had begun to question the beliefs of the Church of England and they wanted to separate from it. The Pilgrims settled in what is now the state of Massachusetts. Their first winter in the New World was difficult. They had arrived too late to grow many crops, and without fresh food, half the colony died from disease. The following spring the Iroquois Indians taught them how to grow corn (maize), a new food for the colonists. They showed them other crops to grow in the unfamiliar soil and how to hunt and fish.

In the autumn of 1621, bountiful crops of corn, barley, beans and pumpkins were harvested. The colonists had much to be thankful for, so a feast was planned. They invited the local Indian chief and90 Indians. The Indians brought deer to roast with the turkeys and other wild game offered by the colonists. The colonists had learned how to cook cranberries and different kinds of corn and squash dishes from the Indians. To this first Thanksgiving, the Indians had even brought popcorn.

In following years, many of the original colonists celebrated the autumn harvest with a feast of thanks. After the United States became an independent country, Congress recommended one yearly day of thanksgiving for the whole nation to celebrate. George Washington suggested the date November 26 as Thanksgiving Day. Then in 1863, at the end of a long and bloody civil war, Abraham Lincoln asked all Americans to set aside the last Thursday in November as a day of thanksgiving.

Psalm 77:11 “I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your wonders of old.”

A Message from The Head Pastor of Abundant Harvest Fellowship International

To My Dear Family and Friends, My brothers and sisters @ Abundant Harvest Fellowship International, Abundant Harvest Ministries; I would like to greet everyone a Happy Thanks Giving, Truly we have so much to be thankful for as another year draws to a close and a New Year springs forth. God is so gracious as He moves in our lives to empower, enlighten, strengthen and guide each heart, mind, soul to His calling. From the breath of life we hold dear, the mornings that we enjoy; the friends who keeps us smiling, and the family we cherish dearly- we must be thankful, We should be Thankful.

Psalm 136:1 states” “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.”

Indeed, it is His love that gave life to us all, His love that gave us purpose, His love the helps us endure and His love that gave us salvation. His faithfulness stands thus we Give Thanks for these blessings, having a heart of gratitude to celebrate was has been given, cherish our relationships and strengthen our bonds of fellowship as we cleave to Christ alone.

Lamentations 3:22-23 states: Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

In this verse, it is explained how each morning is suppose to be filled with Thanksgiving, filled with gratefulness for man in all his subtleties have not wisdom; we think we hold our destiny, have command of each breath; captains of our fate- master’s of our soul yet we live in borrowed time; temporary as the dew in the morning yet God’s love upholds us, guides us and empowers us to reach the peak of our destiny; not by our might but by cleaving to His truth empowered by His grace. Thus Be Thankful, Be intentional in being grateful and celebrate this day and each day with a new found appreciation for this gift we call: Life by cleaving to His truth, turning away from Sin and proclaiming the Lordship of Jesus Christ in each aspect of our existence.

Delighting in God: Fear the Lord and Serve Him

Joshua 24:14 – “Now therefore fear the LORD and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness. Put away the gods that your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the LORD.”

The question today is simple, do you serve the Lord sincerely and faithfully to a point that He is the first in our hearts and minds when we wake up and the last when we lie down? That we take such joy in serving Him, in reading His word and simply fellowshipping with Him? Do we stand to fear the Lord that in every aspect of our existence, we desire to please Him from our usage of the resources He bestowed on us to our time. How is our reading, is it continues; haphazardly placed or shaky? Such are the questions when we stand in service to the King, it might be so that the busyness of the day is the idol we worship thus it is time to choose. We can’t split our hearts in two; it is either we serve God or hunger to sate our carnality. Friend, now is the time to decide; but know this; if you choose one- you must stand for your choice to the end- you can’t swim in two streams: the Lord comes to us and desires that we singularly focus on Him since through Him is a life, a hope and a
Future. If you are truly regenerated, called and elected- then the choice is not so much a matter of making it but a matter of standing by it. But if you are still wondering on what to choose or have been problematic with your life in the Spirit; then it is time to check ones salvation.

Spiritual Check Up: What Are Your High Places?

1 Kings 3:3 – “Solomon showed his love for the Lord by walking according to the instructions given him by his father David, except that he offered sacrifices and burned incense on the high places.”

What are your High Places?

High Places: The opposition to the high places had many motives. When used for the worship of other gods their objectionable character is obvious, but even the worship of Yahweh in the high places was intermixed with heathen practices (Hosea 4:14, etc.). In Amos 5:21-24, etc., sacrifice in the high places is denounced because it is regarded as a substitute for righteousness in exactly the same way that sacrifice in the Temple is denounced in Jeremiah 7:21-24. Or, sacrifice in the high places may be denounced under the best of conditions, because in violation of the law of the one sanctuary (2 Chronicles 33:17, etc.).

Answer: High places, very simply, were places of worship on elevated pieces of ground or raised altars in low land such as a valley. High places were originally dedicated to idol worship (Numbers 33:52; Leviticus 26:30) especially among the Moabites (Isaiah 16:12). These shrines often included an altar and a sacred object such as a stone pillar or wooden pole in various shapes, identifying with the object of worship (animals, constellations, goddesses and fertility deities).

High Place: is the highest peak where you put up your idol above the rest.

Exodus 20:3-6 – “You shall have no other gods before me. “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.

God wants us to worship Him in Truth and in Spirit, though we offer tangible offerings to God, He rather have us worship Him with our Obedience and undivided heart.Our Allegiance and Loyalty to Him alone is what God deserves.

1Samuel 15:22 – “But Samuel replied: “Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the LORD? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.”

Question: In your steadfast walk with God, how many times have you slipped away and realize that you are clinging back again to a particular desire, want, habit, sin , thought patterns, ambitions, plans that you know is getting into the way of your service to God? These are your carved idols that you subconsciously or consciously put above God, your so-called High Place.

Pure Daily Devotional: Day 11

John 14:6 – “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

There is only one way to heaven! It is only through Jesus Christ

1. Way- Heaven bound
2.Truth- Gospel ( The Voice of Truth)
3.Life- Everlasting

Romans 10:9-11
– “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”

Question: Friend, If you were to die today, do you know without a doubt that your name is written in God’s Book of Life and that you would go to heaven? Are you saved? Do you want to be saved and have eternal life with Jesus Christ in Heaven

Typhoon Yolanda: A Call To Prayer

Dear Saints,

Peace be with you, the onslaught of Typhoon Yolanda has brought forth destruction and severe loss of life in the Philippines. Many of our countrymen have lost love ones, homes and livelihood. In this note, I call forth each one to stand in prayer for our brethren who suffered from this calamity, may God’s light comfort them and grant them peace. May this storm also stand to awaken many to come to know the Lord Jesus Christ and seek Him alone. I am also encouraging everyone to shine love and turn it to action by supporting the relief operation for those who have been victimized by this storm. AHFi’s doors are open to any donation which we shall bring to Sagip Kapamilya in order to bless our countrymen. May God bless you and may His light shine upon you as you seek Him and exude His goodness to all. Have a blessed day!
