Habbakuk 3:17-185 – ““17 Though the fig tree may not blossom,
Nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, And the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, And there be no herd in the stalls—
18 Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.”
When a plant or a flower dies because of the weather conditions or the lack of nutrients, and there’ll be no more fruition in your field, will you still be able to rejoice? If the sun had buried itself down for the moon to rise up, will you still look at its light with the bright, glinting stars shining through the skies despite of the darkness that surrounds you? When the cumulus cloud turned into a nimbus one, would you choose to love the sound of the rain falling before your face like tears streaming down from your eyes? “Even if” means that regardless of the bad, heavy weather, you still have the positive outlook on your mind to look after the brightness of the rainbow. Whether the situation may be good or bad, you still come to the point of enacting genuine joy through little things. That no matter how life could knock you down; striking you with melancholic events and sorrowful memories, your whole being shall stand up and fight for victory with bullet holes in lungs because you are a soldier. You know that no one had finished the race without feeling tired. You know that no one had won the battle without wounds for those remarks became proofs of striving and winning. You do these things in spite of the toilsome works because you express actions of perseverance for God. You are a soldier of Christ, the Lord. The peace of God and the peace with God are with you every single day. Knowing that Jesus had died upon the cross to save us sinners is a sign of peace for we all are forgiven from our transgressions against Him. Our lives are firmly secure in the hands of the Mighty One. So when the trials come our way, we are silent and still. The promises of God are what we are constantly holding on to. Peace does not mean that there is an absence of troubles but instead there is a never-ending, never-fleeting series of happiness and trust toward God. We are never helpless nor hopeless because we are provided with serenity. Let us let the current situation be as it is then make the best of it. Never think of too much what ifs because it gives us doubtful hope and regrets, leaving us drained with only anxiety for tomorrow and the next days. The reason why our happiness is fleeting because of what ifs that lead us to sorrow and pain. It is because we didn’t ask for the Lord’s wisdom to help us distinguish the right and wrong things. Sadly, we had only followed our hearts’ desires and the call of our fleshes. When someone causes us pain, we feel our hearts breaking as the twinge of pain slowly increases. Emptiness leads us to destruction until depression catches us. Then sooner or later, our faith will be abandoned to block us from what is good. Romans 8:37-39 states: “37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Remember these verses, keep them in mind so when we can’t hold on to sorrow any longer, we’ll be reminded of God’s love which will carry us through worst occurrences. It will give us hope in the future. Decide to not bind your happiness towards the people and the things around you. Choose to give the responsibility of your cheerfulness in God so we will never be broken in the end. He is the real definition of peace. You can never pursue peace in drugs, fame, fortune, pleasure, hobbies, dun, entertainment, alcohol, and many more just to escape from the tragic reality. It is the false belief of tranquility. So choose to be unmovable, never blaming the flower for dying due to the bad soil, believing that the darkest nights can still produce the brightest stars, dancing in the rain while waiting for the storm to over, and filling yourself with much hope in God, humble enough for not tending to bind trust by your own ability and accomplishment but relying on God’s powerful strength.
